The ISN-KDIGO Webinar on Maintaining Kidney Health and Preventing CKD will present some of the content and conclusions from the KDIGO Controversies Conference on the same topic.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the adverse outcomes of people with kidney disease before reaching the glomerular filtration rate and albuminuria thresholds required to diagnose chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the need to quantify albuminuria for the early diagnosis of CKD
- Review recent post-hoc analysis of randomized controlled trials that support the concept that CKD can be prevented or regress upon appropriate medication interventions on top of a healthy lifestyle
- Discuss the need to define a very high risk of CKFD (that may be labeled preCKD) that may benefit from early intervention to prevent the development of CKD, akin to the following similar actionable concepts in the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome spectrum: overweight, prediabetes, high blood pressure, pre-heart failure.
